Powering Southeast Asia: Xayaburi Dam, Laos

Cranes in Xayaburi Dam, Laos

The Xayaburi Dam in Laos is a landmark hydropower project on the Mekong River, generating substantial renewable electricity that is primarily exported to neighboring countries. The project plays a significant role in supporting regional energy demands, boosting Laos’ economy, and promoting sustainable development throughout Southeast Asia. In addition to providing a reliable source of clean energy, the development has contributed to local employment and infrastructure growth.

To support the construction and long-term operation of the dam, industrial cranes with capacities of up to 350 tonnes were supplied. These cranes were instrumental in handling heavy equipment and structural components during construction and continue to play a critical role in the operation and maintenance of the facility, including the lifting, installation, inspection, and servicing of spillway gates, intake gates, and other key hydro-mechanical equipment essential to the dam’s safe and efficient operation.
